How to do an Imbolc House Cleansing Ritual at your Home or Workplace
It is IMBOLC and time to celebrate – but before you do that, this post teaches how to do an Imbolc House Cleansing Ritual to cleanse your house, release old energies and welcome in the new.
‘Imbolc’ is a Celtic, Wiccan and Christian time of celebration and ritual, often called St Brigid’s Day, Candelmas or the Festival of Lights. As it honours the end of a season it is a great time to cleanse and clear the Hearth and the House. Here is a cleansing ritual to perform for Imbolc. Do it before you have guests to share a feast, and don’t forget to light candles as you celebrate …….
How to do an Imbolc House Cleansing Ritual:
What You Need
• Salt
• Sage or sweetgrass
• A candle
• A bowl of water
• Blessing Oil
First, physically clean your house. Once your house is clean – Begin at the front door and go through the house in a clockwise direction. Smudge the perimeter of each room with the salt, sage, candle flame and water. You may wish to say some sort of incantation as you do this, something like:
I cleanse this space with the purifying power of water, the clean breath of air, the passionate heat of fire, and the grounding energy of earth
As you pass from room to room, anoint each door and window sill with the Blessing Oil by tracing the shape of a pentagram or other symbol of your tradition. You can offer a small incantation as you do this, something like:
May the goddess bless this home, making it sacred and pure,
so that nothing but love and joy shall enter through this door.
Finally, once you’ve gone through the whole house, come back to where you began and close the circle with a symbol of infinity.
