Intuitive and creative Impulse – someone asked me recently what inspires me to paint and or choose my subjects. I find that my subjects, topics and themes tend to find me, and the painting is not painted by me, but comes through me. Sometimes the idea or thought, is so strong it cannot be ignored. It’s as if my soul is nagging me to put the image out into the world. Like for example the image ‘Bronze Galaxy’ in my last post. My intuitive and creative impulse, or my soul if you like, kept nagging at me, to be put the image onto paper, then onto canvas. I began to see the image everywhere. I could see it in the starry skies at night and then books came to me with inscriptions of stone carvings. So the tug was then to change the image, create it anew, as if it was created in stone. So my intuitive and creative impulse had me play with blues – first the colour of the daylight sky and then the moonlight sky. Then it had to be brown and pulled into sharper focus and so it became an image that could be created as magnets and greeting cards so that others could also have the influence of these galactic energies.
